Explore the breath taking and thrilling steamy sempaya hot springs with water boiling, bubbling and jetting from the ground at about 103 degrees Celsius with an evening boat cruise along Kazinga Channel.

DAY 1: TRANSFER TO SEMULIKI NATIONAL PARK

On this day, you will be picked up by our driver guide and transferred to Semuliki national park and you will check in at Semuliki safari lodge.

Semuliki national park occupies an isolated slice of Uganda territory beyond the Rwenzori Mountain on the broad floor of the Albertine rift valley and it contains an exceptional rich and varied biodiversity. The park represents the eastern limit of the jungles of Congo and species from Congo-Guinea and East African biomes are both found here. It contains 53 mammal species including impressive 11 primates for example the Dent’s mona monkey, the central African red colobus, forest buffalo and the water chevrotain occur nowhere else in East Africa. The park is also exciting for birdwatchers with about 435 bird species (43% of Uganda’s total) including the numerous rift valley endemics and Congo species at the eastern limit of their range and it contains evidence of even older processes for instance the hot springs bubble up from the depths to demonstrate the powerful subterranean forces that have been shaping the rift valley during the last 14 million years.

DAY 2: NATURE WALK AND HOT SPRINGS EXPERIENCE IN THE AFTERNOON

Following breakfast in the morning, you will be picked up by our driver guide to Semuliki national park for a nature walk and later on an experience with the sempaya hot springs.

Nature walk

The park offers the most tremendous guided nature walk where you will be able to spot beautiful sceneries within the park, some of the primates like the olive baboons, the endangered Brazza’s monkey using the primate trail, kirumai trail or the sempaya nature trail which will give you an amazing experience.

Hotsprings experience

The male and female sempaya hot springs are semuliki’s most famous attraction located about 30 minutes’ walk from the main road into the forest tracks of the national park. The springs are breath taking and thrilling to see steamy hot water boiling, bubbling ang jetting from the ground at about 103 degrees Celsius.

DAY 3: TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Following breakfast very early in the morning, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth national for a game drive and a launch cruise in the evening. You will check in at ishasha jungle lodge for an overnight stay.

Morning game drives in queen Elizabeth national park can be so thrilling and heartwarming as you get a chance to spot the big 5 in the kasenyi sector of the park. The open grasslands of kasenyi provide the primary game viewing area where you will see the exhaling tree climbing lions as they spend their days resting up in the branches of the shady fig trees plus other animals like the buffaloes, hippos, elephants, Topis, herds of Uganda Kobs and many more and return to your hotel for lunch and refreshments.

Boat cruise at kazinga channel

After lunch, you will head for a breath-taking boat cruise at kazinga channel. A boat cruise on Kazinga channel in queen Elizabeth national park is one of the most relaxing ways to view the stunning vigilant game in the park. The two-hour voyage between mweya and the channels entrance into lake Edward cruises beside banks lined with resident hippos, crocodiles, waterbirds, visiting elephant, buffalo and antelopes.

DAY 4: SALT MINING EXPERIENCE AT LAKE KATWE AND DEPARTURE

Following breakfast in the morning, you will be picked up by our driver guide and head to lake Katwe the salty lake. lake Katwe is a customary lake on which salt mining is done. The adjacent local community of Katwe 12km from Mweya have been extracting salt from the saline lake Katwe using evaporation pans. With this activity local guides will escort you down into the crater to see the process and the adjacent lake munyange is rich in water birds including the migrating flamingo which can be spotted between August and November. You will then go back to the lodge for lunch, check out and transferred back to Entebbe.
